scorpiosea Ex Member	The Part of Fortune « on: 25.10.2011 at 22:18 [UT+1] » Hi, I'm interested to know if anyone has seen their POF being activated by transit or synastry, and what sort of things happened as a result? I have seen it involved in synastry but I'm not sure I could definitively say it was the POF and not something else. Personal or client stories or quotations from authors all welcome .

I don't know about transit but in terms of synastry I have found that I have alot of Sun

friends and quite a number of them are conjunct

my Pof at 8 degrees. my youngest son has his Sun

less than 1 degree away from my Pof.
I thought my Pof was Gemini

for a long time until I discovered there is a different formula for people born at night and finding out my new Pof placement has made alot of sense to me in terms of the people in my life

astro.com automatically changes the formula if the chart is a night chart, however they have an option to keep the POF as a day formula, which some people use no matter the time of birth. I'm not sure why as I don't know enough about the debate.

Glad it has meaning for you - would you say the persons who activate your POF are more likely to bring you good fortune/cheer etc, in your life?

I don't know much about the debate at all! I just know that Pof in Gemini

had no meaning at all for me so when the formula was changed for my night time 2am birth and Pof became Taurus

it instantly made sense to me. yes I do like my Sun

friends, they are lovely. and I forgot to mention my youngest son who is born on 29th April and so his Sun

is within 1 degree of my Pof is one of 5 family members with the same birthday ( different years) and I do seem to get on particularly well with these family members. they bring me cheer reflecting my Pof being in my 5th house

That is interesting, Scorpiosea: the different POF's.

My eldest daughther's Moon is conjunct (with orb of 1 degree) with my POF in 5th in Sagittarius

.

If I make a different choice in POF in day/night chart: the Aries Moon of my youngest daughter is conjunct my POF in 9th house with 3 degrees difference.

Anyway: Both of them are my true POF
Even if their Moon would not be conjunt my POF. Cool

Using the correct formula for your day/night birth is the Part of Fortune, the other is the Part of Spirit.

Well, what about my daughter's Moon's at my POF?
The transitting Moon activated my POF twice, in the BEST way that could happen to me in life. Mission completed. Desires fulfilled.

These where, as far as I have noticed, (read: looked for) the only 2 times my POF was 'hit' so fortunate.
As if I won the grand lottery + jackpot twice!

Basically every Greek astrologer said that the POF has reversed day and night formulas except for Ptolemy. Additionally even medieval Arab and European astrologers ignored Ptolemy on that point.

The POF is used to find out what will be fortunate or unfortunate for the person. It's sometimes good, sometimes not, usually somewhere in between. It shows a notable area of fortune.

The Part of Spirit shows the person's concept of God or religion. The old texts say "quality of faith, religion, and prophesy".

I sometimes use a couple of others: the Part of Hyleg for life purpose and Part of Faith when dealing with spiritual matters.

So if the Part is in Gemini, you want to see what Mercury is up to. If Mercury is afflicted, it's not great, if he's dignified, then great.

ah yes my

is in

( an intercepted sign in my chart) and retrograde and conjunct

in my 3rd house. add to this my Mercury

is

and

so I would say quite afflicted. on a more positive note Mercury

and

are the final depositors of my chart ( if you count Uranus

). still it's not great and makes sense when put like that.

so from this perspective the night time formula is merely a mistake? and doesn't represent any other part? just curious......

yes I am getting confused now too!

I was under the impression you didn't use the night time formula for Pof but I think I misunderstood you, sorry, am tired. I was asking what you did with the night time formula if not used for night time ( is what I meant) but now I know you use it for night time births my question is no longer relevant. using night time formula my Pof is in Taurus

which makes more sense to me.

Well I'm a weirdo who does traditional astrology, so my methods don't really work with Neptune. I need to be able to judge the quality of the planet by using the essential dignities, so I don't know what to do with Neptune in cases like this.

I'd personally look at Jupiter. The 10th is career and reputation, so that area is highlighted. How and how well this manifests depends on Jupiter.

I have no experience with my own POF for different reasons. But one of these two, should be POS, is between sun and pluto conjunction. for gods sake I am a woman and have a lot of feminine placements, so the part of spirit (I guess mostly on pluto) works out well. This one I think I can sense. But it is not that I really get the difference, let´s say to the 9th house. So I guess it is more for others- yes she really thinks in that and this terms (all plutonians are bad at least sometimes). But the POF in good aspects natal I think can do a lot. It quite good shows from where you get satisfaction. ie if you are a writer but don´t get the recognition you think you deserve, then you maybe have a mercury opposition natal.
