Discussion about
Anne Heche, born 25 May 1969 at 4:51 PM in Cleveland OH

This discussion is imported from the  comment board on the  previous astrodatabank.com website.

  • On Oscar night, March 23, 1997, Anne saw Ellen and instantly fell passionately in love. What accounts for this total passionate attraction? What is the aspect for meeting someone very special?
  • In her book she says she has been struggling until this year with an alternate personality that goes into a 4th dimensional fantasy and talks to God. She's bisexual and she won an Emmy for playing good girl-bad girl twins of four years on the soap opera "Another World." Duality should be a big feature of her chart. Can you find it?
  • Her dad also lived a double life. He was a Baptist minister who visited gay bars at night. When she was 14 her father died of AIDS on March 4, 1983 and three months later her brother died in a car accident. They say that death shows up more in the chart of those left behind. Do you see any extra 8th house or Pluto activity.
  • Ann lives her life "full out." Where does her great openness to experience come from?

Ann's 8th house sun in gemini would seem particularly open to experiementing in sexual matters. Given the sun in Gemini, showing duality, and the strong thrust of mutable signs in the chart, it seems natural that she has a lot of inner indecisiveness and impressionability. Her airy Libra asc adds to this picture of changeability and openness to life.
It isn't surprising that she has venus in the 7th ruling her asc libra, as she is better known for her relationship choices than for her acting ability or success. The sun in the 8th house supports the idea that her life is strongly influenced by others, both for better and worse. Venus in Aries is one of the more aggressive and impulsive signs, and Venus may attract a lot of strong personalities; the likes of Ellen and Steve Martin are well documented.
Finally, the moon stellium in the mutable 12th house suggests someone who spends time daydreaming or, atleast is on another wave length. Her fantasy world would seem to be real as she would spend a lot of time wrapped up in her own private world.

1. What's interesting about this chart is Uranus in Virgo about four minutes shy of the Cardinal Axis. Anne is famous for her iconclastic, openly gay relationship with Ellen and , more recently, her unconventional , rather bizarre comments and behavior. Yet the instant attractions she is known for is more indicated by her chart ruler, Venus in Aries, conjoining the desendant. Immediate intimacy may be a hallmark of this placement. Also, Venus trines Mars (widely) in Sagittarius Rx , ruler of the seventh house. She is therefore rather impulsive in her relationship patterns. As Mars opposes the Sun (ruler of the eleventh), Anne also has a vigourous, opinionated side that can cause conflicy with partners and friends.
2. Of course duality is a feature of her life experience; Anne has an overwhlemingly mutable count in her chart. Mercury in Gemini is the final dispositor in the eighth. This may show up in her so-called bi-sexuality. Anne probably has a hard time firmly deciding on anything or anyone for too long. While I see a fine mind and intellectual power in her horoscope, her needs for change and diversity may keep her overly-detatched and intellectualizing her needs and feelings (low water, high air, mutable) . Yet some of her greatest challenges and rewards in life will come from going deeply into these emotional terrains, exploring her needs (with therapy most likely)- and she has the power to heal whatever has hurt or harmed her capacity to feel close to another (Moon/Pluto).
3. Sun in Gemini may symbolize her bi-sexual father. He was living a double life (mutable Sun) yet was most certainly fiery in his religious opinionation (Mars in Sagittarius ) . I don't want to say that the theme of moral purity and regeneration was a part of her dad's religious preaching , but I will - Anne's Virgo stellium in the 12th would be her dad's derived ninth. There's a lot of religious guilt with the Virgo. Anne picked this up as a child, I think to heal she had to bring all this "out of the closet" by her relationship with Ellen. Perhaps she was being a circuit breaker of sorts , healing hidden family issues in public. There's a lot of depth and strength in Anne's twelfth. But again maybe others don't see it; many see her merely as a social climber (Saturn peregrine) or a dissembling bimbo. Both characterizations are unfair.
By the way , Uranus in Sagittarius was transiting her Mars during the time of the deaths. Uranus opposed natal Mercury (siblings) in the eighth. The death of a sibling for anyone is a big deal, but for a Gemini- pretty traumatic I suppose.

2&4: Mars in Sag in opposition to Mercury conjunct Sun in Gemini has been her source of transformation. She valued "getting out and about" and possesses the mental elasticity to put parts of herself away when necessary. Super asset, super slippery-slope: a mixed blessing.A born survivor, never to be underestimated. Watch her in the future.

1. On Oscar night, March 23, 1997, Anne saw Ellen and instantly fell passionately in love. What accounts for this total passionate attraction? What is the aspect for meeting someone very special?
On that day, her dasa period is Rahu-Jupiter-Rahu, where her Rahu is in the 7th house of relationships and love, while Jupiter is in the 1st fully aspecting the 7th, and lording the 7th house of relationships. Rahu is also conjoined in the 7th with her very powerful exalted Venus, which is the 7th house significator.
The transits are extremely confluent with every planet, except Jupiter, fully aspecting both 7th lord Jupiter and the 7th house Venus and Rahu. Transiting Jupiter aspects the 7th lord Jupiter, but not the 7th house.
This is clearly a time in her life where falling in love could or should occur.
Some other notes- the Sun is transiting Jupiter's (the bhukti lord) own sign, and Jupiter and Rahu are transiting (one of) the exaltation sign(s) of dasa lord Rahu. Jupiter and Venus are returning to their natal positions by transit.
2. In her book she says she has been struggling until this year with an alternate personality that goes into a 4th dimensional fantasy and talks to God. She's bisexual and she won an Emmy for playing good girl-bad girl twins of four years on the soap opera "Another World." Duality should be a big feature of her chart. Can you find it?
I can see that this is more obvious using Tropical astrology, but, in sidereal, she still has dual Virgo as the rising sign and dual Gemini on the 10th house.
3. Her dad also lived a double life. He was a Baptist minister who visited gay bars at night. When she was 14 her father died of AIDS on March 4, 1983 and three months later her brother died in a car accident. They say that death shows up more in the chart of those left behind. Do you see any extra 8th house or Pluto activity.
The dasa period was Moon-Ketu-Mercury. The weak house placement of the Moon indicates that its dasa period will be a difficult time. It is in the sign of Leo (father) in the 12th house of losses. Mercury is in the 9th house (father) with the Sun (father) who is the 12th lord (loss) and fully aspected by 8th lord (death, disease, secrets) Mars. The combination of Sun-Mars forms the very unfortunate arishta yoga (misfortune and misery). Ketu malefically aspects the 9th lord Venus.
Turning the chart so the 9th is 1st house, Mercury is maraka lord (2nd house) in the 1st house and fully aspected by the other death lord, Mars. Mars is especially pernicious because it is also the 12th lord of this chart. From this turned chart, the mutual aspect of Jupiter-Venus (which Ketu is involved in) forms the destructive arishta yoga which can be an indicator of physical disease.
By transit, both the Moon and Jupiter are transiting dasa lord's debilitation sign.
I'm not sure if her brother was older or younger, but if he was older, Moon is the lord of the 11th house of older siblings and in the 12th.
 4. Anne lives her life "full out." Where does her great openness to experience come from?
I'd say this comes from the free-spirited quality of Jupiter who has directional strength in the 1st house of the chart and from Mars, who is very powerful in Scorpio in the 3rd house, which indicates great courage, enthusiasm and adventurousness.

It's the hourglass pattern that gives her the dualty/alternate personalities.
Her 12th house is overpowering with the Moon (emotions), Pluto (transformation), Jupiter (expansive), and Uranus (eccentric). All these planets in the house that rules the unconscious and oppose the Dragon's head. This is where the struggle was with her alternate personality, as well as the emphasis on death.

With her Sun in Gemini opposite Mars in Sagittarius - an aspect whose rarity should not be understated since it occurs over the past one hundred and twenty years only in 1922, 1969 and 2002 - Anne Heche is obviously open to experience and to fluctuating between strong religious principles and anything-goes moral attitudes.

Compare with John Kerry, who had Sun in Sagittarius opposite Mars in Gemini, found in 1896, 1943, 1975 and 1990, and during the 2004 election had similar problems to those which Heche has faced. However, given the sense of right and wrong in her Moon in Virgo, this may be more pronounced than even with Kerry.

Another notable feature of Heche’s chart is how these mutable planets are in natural water houses, so that even though possessing virtually no actual water signs in her chart (only transpersonal Neptune in Scorpio), Heche might try to use her dominant air and mutable signs to “act” as water, though this is very difficult. Because the water houses allow her to experience feelings (as opposed to actually feeling them deeply which signs like Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius simply cannot do).

Along with her large preponderance of planets above the horizon and Ascendant ruler Venus in the seventh house in Aries, it makes for an extremely extroverted person even with the modest Virgo planets. With Moonquincunx 150°Venus, Heche has extra emotional conflicts to those created by her SunoppositionMars, and these are very clearly played out directly in her public persona as an actress. Perhaps they even aid her acting ability with nothing in water signs or Leo.

Several older less politically correct authors say that Stellium in Virgo can denote extreme promiscuity. Virgo is not always prim and proper as the word might imply to some. Also, not that this is of particular relevance to this chart but many many sources say Virgo is capable of violence. Author Barbara Waters is a strong case study about Virgo murderers.

I see this 12th house as hiding fraudulent type feelings. She has thus far chosen partners who feel it irrelevant but 12 House of secret enemies or being a secret enemy may imprison her physically or emotionally in time. She will have enormous health issues she can't overcome in her future. critical degrees in Virgo hiding a type of phobia regarding health too. she may become extremely compulsion like repeated hand washing or just compulsive sex in later years.

The hard aspects between Sagittarius Mars and Virgo Stellium causes extreme nervous tension which reflects physically being under weight. Possibly hiding disease that debilitates her chronically. There is almost no way to overcome the 12th house disease that is innate in her birth chart. She will try in time to fight it but end in exhaustion and collapse very like Vivianne Leigh but worse as she has much much much less raw talent. Vivienne Leigh had the contract companies on her side after Gone With The Wind. They are gone now. I would be very surprised she didn't hide serious fixations on physical perfections. That is the crux of many repetitious unconscious behaviors.

• Ann lives her life "full out." Where does her great openness to experience come from?

Her Chiron  Chiron opposition Uranus Jupiter   (excessive and extremes in life), in the 12th opposed was registered when Anne was 15 and these two great tragedies occurred back to back. A natal promise one might suggest occurring from one cadent house to the other. The conscious with the sub-conscious houses.

Her NN is conjunct fixed star Scheat, promising a great deal of misfortune in life. Apparently seems to be connected with the relationships and personal life.

Her 8th house Sun (father archetype) found in the house of obsessions and sex, conjunct Hyades & Mercury and being opposed to Mars in the 2nd of values, suggesting much of the reckless part of her life was to her undoing, but more then likely, not a conscious thing, more inclinations she was born to experience.(the extremes)

This standard Movie Industry Bio gives far more information about Anne Heche's personal life and foundation.
That she had been continuously raped (she says) from infancy to her teen years by her very promiscuous father.
That she lost via suicide, her brother 3months after her father's death, and that she also lost 2 other sisters, leaving only 1 live sibling a sister left as well as her estranged mother who has taken to orthodox religion to convert gays to being heterosexual. Anne avoids her because of this as well she says now.
Her older sister wrote a biography about her home life, before she died.

I wish Anne all the very best, she's had a remarkable life and it's shocking really to think she managed to survive it all.
Perhaps having the natal Sun conjunct Hyades in the 8th with her Mercury and other indicators in the natal chart, tells a story here that has yet to be divulged or truly comprehended for what it symbolizes for her.

We can only hope she has healed and gotten good mental health treatment along the way while she raises her two sons.

I'm attempting to find the dob and tob for the 2nd child, Atlas Heche Tupper, but so far can only find the dob.
Her 1st son Homer Heche Lafoon's natal is on the databank.

Additional info  from Bio link :
Is one of five children, although three of her four siblings are deceased. Her sister Cynthia died of a heart defect as an infant; her brother Nate committed suicide in 1983; her sister Susan died of brain cancer in 2006. Her only remaining sibling, Abigail, is a jewelry designer in New York
Her father Don, a choir director, died at 45 of AIDS in 1983.
Her late sister Susan Bergman wrote the book "Anonymity: The Secret Life of an American Family" (1994), about their father's homosexuality and his death from AIDS.

A total mental breakdown, preceeding the 7 years of therapy, occurred in Fresno, in August of 2000 (when she stripped to bra & panties and knocked on a stranger's door asking to be taken in, they called the police later on as she made herself at home)......, but in Sept. of 2001 her interview with Barbara Walters, sounds as if she was still in that fantasy world....of her own making. (see Link for further details  Huh  )

It's going to take many many cycles of her mercury conjunction to mars , but she will experience a type of nerve damage eventually. Probably palsy involvement of some type. It includes shaking and not capable of self control. Sagittarius is mutable as is Virgo stellium. It causes a physical type shaking when under stressors or disease or age related issues. it makes sense she should have a pregnancy to help her cope socially. Parkinson's type shaking, but not exactly that in this chart.

Deb, I am only reading the chart. I have never seen her except in a still camera shot. Not on TV or in a movie. I don't watch Oscars. I don't watch talk shows. She will do everything to hide herself including shutting herself in when this occurs.

Hormonal therapy won't help. Maybe lactating would. I would be surprised if she didn't have eating disorder or eventually won't or can't eat in later years.

Uranus conjunct Jupiter square to Mars in Sag. Uncontrollable outbursts with shaking hidden in 12th with natural ruler of Pisces currently in rulership. The Doctors will have difficulty finding the source, but it might be DNA related. The symptoms will be veiled by other issues. Libra Rising often tries to veil reality for its own needs and purposes. Putting a glossy Venus social front ahead of practicality. A type of social disguise.

Thanks for this Ruwhoo, I'll definately try  &  see what I can along those lines you mention for her future.

I never watch the Oscars, or Awards shows either, but I do recall years a go when she & Ellen broke up and the "incident" in the desert (her breakdown, became all the news then).....I didn't realize until now that it went on to the following year (with the Barbara Walters interview) in 2001 however. Hmmm. THEN a child born to her in 2002 a quick, hastily arranged marriage perhaps, to prove to herself she's not a lesbian? Who knows., I think (as you do) poor Anne hasn't seen the end of this dual personality of her's.

I just hope it doesn't play out in a bad way again.  She is a lovely woman and a very good actress from the few movies I recall seeing her in.

Looking at the child from the 1st marriage, (the quick one after Ellen breakup):

http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Lafoon,_Homer_Heche

His natal seens to reflect a rather balanced beginning chart I think, (I hope), as the mother Mercury  ruled the 9th of conception for him, is Mercury ruled (I'm thinking again, she was out to prove something to herself, with this quick marriage and turn around).....and the 1st child a result of that union.

Moon24Libra in the 10th a public house (and she did have public acclaim, and had a movie scheduled, actually a few of them at that time period)........opposition Mars in the 4th, with Mars not only in Detriment, but conjunct fixed star "Mirach" which never (imo) gives a good outcome for a marriage regardless of the opposite being stated on some fixed star sites, (I've observed the star Mirach doing the opposite of a good stable marriage that they claim)

I see his natal South Node is also conj. his ASC within  minutes.
Much of this natal speaks of the relationship that his mother had with his father, as well as the inheritances from mother's ongoing struggles.

added for Anne Heche:  I just noticed that Anne's Juno falls in her 3rd (lower mind) at 15Capricorn and is conjunct her Pallas Athena  11°Capricorn
It also makes a BiQuintile to her Sun ruler, Mercury which may help to  explain some of her confusion about sex or partnerships. IF a bi-Q is about a creative way of incorporating the energies involved, and I believe it is, then the energies are integrated in such a way as to provide some type of way of coping (perhaps) a mechanism to cope with the relationship at hand, be it female or male.(Gemini Sun 8th) Pallas  BiQuintile Sun & Juno Bi-Quintile to Mercury

A confusion from the foundation of life, then needing to survive, the abused child often adopts (as in her case) all types of creative mechanisms to cope and make it through. The confusion for her arising from a hedonistic father (Sun ) and passive mother (Moon ) while horrendous things were going on in the home she grew up in, as well as out of the home.
A choir director in a church, then comes home to continually abuse his daughters    Sad

Deborah: There is too much underlying deception in this chart for me to take a Biography or auto-biography verbatim. Publishers want scandalous stuff to sell books.

90% of the time I don't read them unless someone like the late Domminick Dunne wrote it, and only then because his daughter was murdered. He took his reporting very seriously, but also widely read as he was brilliant.

The Anne Heche life story speaks political bending to me. I want to just look at the chart verbatim. I am not fascinated by her as she may associate with the criminal mind well....

I am looking from the Huber Schooling on that one. And no I don't always read negativity into a chart but I try to be objective with my 8th House Saturn in Libra conjunction to Vesta that has kept me from the talons and out of the teeth of criminals myself.

I know I have a reputation for reading cynical to the chart , but I see it as objectivity as I spend as much time actual star gazing as I can.

Her 12th House tells me she uses these deceptions to promote with. I have a dislike for her former partners but it isn't hatred just "God they make me feel disgusted" rather quickly on viewing.

(Fascination and stomach turning disgust is easily distinguished by my personal interceptions.)

I am also looking at her Trines as I am focused on T.Davis explanation of them as presented as "opportunistic" rather than "not felt, or spoiled...etc) as many mundane cook book Astrology cook books write about Trines. They certainly are not always "easily

This is not to say that some opportunistic issues are not healthy in the chart. Sometimes it's the survival mechanism that keeps a rape victim on - going. If she actually was raped by her father I would need to see his chart to have total credulance. Or at least be somewhat convinced.

The bi-quintile say something to me they might not to you and since I really don't think she will make huge positive mark on our culture I'd rather not explain...

The Juno you explained will and has anchored her... I think she will be counter cultural always and opportunists will drag her out to verify their anti-social beliefs about religion as often as they can go to the bank on it themselves which will be often. Her 2nd House tells me she gets cash income or brings such to others in the ways of deception. Quick type cash in 1's, 5's, etc.... the type underground counterfeits, makes and uses.

She is counter cultural brought to the screen to justify anti- religious issues.

That's my take on it. Pure Atheists love her dearly, and will always promote her at b movies in box office venues. 1's, and 5's making up ticket sales...

If Saturn represents her father I can see the bullying aspects in her chart. The victim of bullying aften goes to a more subtle bully for comforting. I think she fights becoming one so desperately hard that she sublimates authority issues to survive. Terry Moultin who was accused of murdering her son I think has Saturn in Taurus and not too subtle bully. But Terry's is NOT  7th house of partnerships. A child cannot control the bully....

but I see the oppositions to her Neptune in Scorpio and (maybe or not) her ego is allowing them to impact her childhood  imagination in the present. It's a very difficult opposition to feel for a Gemini. They often turn to deception for comforts.

If the whole thing isn't about exploitation from the media I am grieved for her. But allowing more bullys to comfort her is not really wise for her stellium.

Thanks to Deborah for providing me stats on Terri Moultin Hormon's chart for comparison. Her Saturn is within 3 degrees of Anne Hecht's Natal Saturn. Yet from the sexual assault view I feel it of extreme significance that Anne Hecht's is not conjunct Mars as in Terri's chart. Also, Anne's has a significant inconjunction to her moon.semisextile

According to many authors this is really important as it points to serious issues between her MotherMoon and father Saturn.  Otherwise Anne's Saturn has no strong aspects.

If anyone has any information regarding that relationship it could be very interesting to know if the inconjunction difficulties bear noting.  Shocked

Terri Horman also was rumored to have problems with Dad (s) in the way of perturbation over sexual issues.

Ann lives her life "full out." Where does her great openness to experience come from?

I suspicion Anne's Sagittarius Mars and the coping mechanisms she learned from the inconjunction between her Saturn and Moon created the "full on" personality issues she portrays.
