Discussion about
Timothy McVeigh, born 23 April 1968 at 08:19 AM in Lockport NY

This discussion is imported from the  comment board on the  previous astrodatabank.com website.

  • How could he hate so much and feel so little? Why does he apparently have no remorse or conscience?
  • McVeigh's mother disappeared when he was 10 and according to his psychiatrist he had "sexual affairs but he never had a complete and full relationship with a woman." Where is this in the chart?
  • Some people desperately need structure to make their life work. McVeigh's life worked wonderfully when he was in the army and fell apart when he left. What does the chart tell us about this?
  • What was going on in his chart on April 19, 1995, at 9:02 A.M. that could trigger him into committing such a violent act?

In a link to a bio it states that he lived in Arizona for 5th months shortly before the bombing with a pregnant girlfriend (it doesn't say if the child was his or not) and that they were evicted from a trailer park for being too noisy. There aren't many articles, which report this however the ones that do don't go into detail. Does anybody know what happened to his kid - if it was aborted or given up for adoption or who the girl was and her chart? I would find it interesting to see in his chart any link between the child's fate and the bombing and his attitude toward it - he was especially unremorseful about the kids in the Federal building as it is known that the truck was parked right under the second story day-care center. This could be an observation of the 5th house Neptune opposite the Mars in Taurus in the 11th house of other peoples' children (Am I a sleuth or what?).

Venus is in Aries, indicating sadistic attitudes as well as a' flash in the pan' attitude towards love. A love of arguing, fighting, he's a My Way Or The Highway type. I don't see any good aspects to Venus. Moon is in the 10th house, the same as Hitler's.  No matter how affable he projected himself to be, he was very serious and couldn't take a joke.
<b>A lot of squares in his chart:</b> Pluto square the Midheaven indicates he imposes his will by violence when he doesn't get his way; Jupiter squares Neptune-this guy was in a dream world. Bad finances. Abusive and possessed of a superiority complex shown by the Sun-Saturn square. Venus and Saturn in Aries conjunct means he inherited some of his uncontrollable, violent tendencies from dad -both are in the 10th.
<b>Mars trine Pluto:</b> Dependable in a time of crisis and unafraid. Soldier-of-fortune type. The Moon-Neptune trine shows he can be very sensitive but it is hard for him to express his feelings (Sun opposes Neptune) Waking up to reality would be difficult. And no planets in air signs is no good. Where are his mental processes? And with Sun square Saturn he must have had a mental illness if not just heavy stress.
<b>Saturn opposes Mars:</b> Did his dad take care of him, or he let little Timmy run around unsupervised? He just wasn't a good influence.5th house Neptune opposes Mars in the 11th house of other peoples' children. Did he have anything to do with that little boy's death? Mars in the 11th opposes Saturn in the 10th.He felt guilty for being involved in the war. Uranus squares ascendant-he a weirdo. His mother was abused by dad. Moon opposes Uranus. A little wacky.

McVeigh has Chiron on his natal MC; Chiron now transiting his 7th to the degree, at the time of execution, with the Mars/Chiron conjunction and retrograde involved; and his natal Sun is in the "Rainbow Bridge" discovery degree of Chiron, the 4th degree of Taurus.
Note also, McVeigh's 7th is in the degree of the Galactic Center, a point with many Centaur and Chirotic resonance's.
For those people new to Chiron, this is a lot of Centaur energy in one chart, and it reflects that he is sensitive to transits as well as having a powerful setup in his natal chart. We might wonder why he was not more compassionate with Chiron so strong. I see a couple of reasons. One is that is Chiron is not making strong aspects to personal planets (Venus, Moon, or Mars, with semi-sextiles to Sun and Mercury), which cuts him off from his own personal awareness or access of the compassionate side of Chiron. He manifests the energy on the level of a crusade against the government in the 10th house.
Further while he has Pisces on the 10th cusp, suggesting a level of "spiritual intention," his natal Chiron is placed in Aries. My take on the Chiron in Aries sub-generation is that it takes things much more personally than does the Chiron in Pisces generation and that its spiritual quest shows up as a quest for personal identity, much to the contrary of its Chiron in Pisces predecessors. So in this case he became the personal representative for a struggle against the government -- a struggle at which he may well have succeeded at winning.
This is evidence of the "cuts both ways" property of Centaurs as well. However, we have yet to see the ultimate impact of his execution. His actions certainly worked to underscore the hypocrisies of the US government, which trained him in his tactics; for him to call the killing of children "collateral damage" is so closely on par with the conduct of the US government in its actions at Ruby Ridge, Waco and Iraq as to be a kind of literary irony on McVeigh's part. Everybody remembers those words and many of us are still disgusted by the sound of them. They resound not so much with his actions but with the excuses for rampant murder in Iraq.
His execution only emphasizes these facts, and brings them up in the media. And while the US media buried the story that any Americans were opposed to the execution (except for references to the 300 who showed up at the "anti" camp at the prison yesterday) there have been repeated articles about how this issue impacts Europeans, who were portrayed as mortified at the macabre fact that a camera was trained at McVeigh's face as he rolled his eyes back in his head and died, with bombing survivors watching.
Now all the people who got to experience murder as victims get -- in this lifetime -- to experience murder as perpetrators. FYI on death certificates of capital punishment victims, the cause of death is "state ordered homicide." So it is homicide and we all know it.
"Such an emptiness that results in these acts of vengeance will continue to eat away at the collective. Perhaps our planetary community will learn forgiveness and ways of healing our grief at a much higher level," writes Carol Burkhart on the PW Vision list.
"I have always asserted that Bush in office is a blessing in disguise. He has such blatant disregard for the Earth and its population that it's impossible for even some TV-hypnotized Americans to ignore, and so more people are standing up and taking notice than ever before," writes Maya Dexter on the same list. "The backlash is already building. And this is just his first year. For the first time in my life, the things that have always been status quo are suddenly becoming more loudly unpopular, instead of just echoing in the quiet ravings of a few stinky long-haired conspiracy-theorists."
McVeigh's execution comes at a time when the death penalty is weak, and supported by extremely corrupt and for the most part ignorant people. In Illinois 13 people were exculpated from death row -- they arrived as convicted convicts and left as innocent people after being cleared -- before the governor declared a moratorium on executions, and calls for similar moratoria are underway in other states. </B> In response to [was_link] Jay[/was_link], Venus being the South Node ruler and resting on the North Node of Aries, would certainly indicate that he did not act alone. In fact, his actions were probably heavily influenced by his need to be accepted by another/others.

</B> <b>Timothy McVeigh and Collateral Damage</b>
When the US ambassador to France arrived in Europe 4 years ago, he was an avid supporter of the death penalty. Today he is urging the US government to reconsider. He points out that capital punishment, along with universal access to guns, completely undermines America's claim to world moral leadership and their policy of using human rights as a political tool. The European Convention on Human rights, signed by 39 countries, bans execution, comparing it to torture and genocide. This is in embarrassing contrast to an America which appears to embrace this form of punishment, led by a president who as state governor for Texas has presided over more executions than any other man in the US. The execution of McVeigh is a federal act - not the act of a single state - and the US federal government has not in fact executed anyone for over 30 years. Statistics show that one in three of those executed are black, many are mentally retarded, most are poor, some committed the crime as juveniles, and few receive adequate legal help. More than two out of three cases reviewed by the courts have been overturned on appeal. [was_link][1][/was_link]
However, there are no doubts as to the guilt of Timothy McVeigh, who has freely admitted that he planted and detonated the Oklahoma bomb on April 19, 1995. This was the worst act of terrorist violence in the USA and left 168 people, including 19 children, dead. For the 30 relatives invited to watch through a glass window, when McVeigh receives his lethal injection, and the 270 in a nearby room watching on closed-circuit TV, the moral niceties of Europeans have little importance. They are seeking "closure" for the emotional suffering they have gone through. The execution was to have taken place on May 16th, close to the third and final opposition between Jupiter and Pluto, which is an aspect which has focused attention on the ethics of taking life like never before. Because of a serious error in the FBI's handling of the case however, the execution has been postponed until the 11th June (This article has been written on May 30th). With a retrograde Mars returning to oppose Jupiter at this time, the likelihood that McVeigh will die is strong. The 1600 journalists who left Terre Haute federal prison in Indiana disappointed in May, will soon be able to deliver their first-hand interviews with the bereaved and thereby satisfy the global thirst for news events, even if they are of questionable taste.
McVeigh himself was born with a "mystic rectangle" pattern in his chart, involving a Mars/Neptune opposition, and the Moon in Pisces opposing Pluto and Uranus in the 4th house. In 1988, when his progressed IC was at 20 Virgo conjoining his Pluto and in trine to his Mars, he joined the army, and actually received a military decoration for his actions in the Gulf War. When he left the army, life went downhill, and he earned money traveling to gun fairs selling weapons. It is probably during this period that he developed his hatred of the federal government and attraction to US militia movements and conspiracy theories.
Horoscope: Timothy McVeigh 23.04.1968 8.19 EST Lockport, NY 43N10 78W47 AS 26.56 GE
There are many indications of McVeigh's right-wing beliefs, but one influence which seems to stand out is the extraordinary close conjunction of Venus and Saturn in Aries on the nodal axis. The 11th house emphasis shows both his affiliations with groups, and his attitude to government. Perhaps, with both these planets being badly placed in Aries, the lack of any ability to empathise with others is very strong. When interviewed for the recent book "American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing" he referred to the children who died as "collateral" damage, and even made disparaging comments about the grieving relatives. There seems to be at best a total numbness, and at worst a cold rage at the "other people's children" symbolised by the 11th house. With Venus ruling the 5th house of children, and Saturn the 8th of death, the murder of innocents is graphically expressed.
The Oklahoma bombing is shown in another way too. The Uranus/Pluto conjunction in the 4th could be seen to symbolise the truck bomb, primed and ready at the foot of the State building, with the Moon representing the children and people above. As this opposition also correlates to early experiences with the mother, it is interesting to observe that when his parents separated when McVeigh was 10, his mother left the family home with his sister and married a coastguard in Florida. This reflects the Moon in Pisces and its connection to the sea.

Although there are claims that McVeigh's childhood was normal and happy, he obviously experienced this family break-up really strongly, and was traumatised by his mother's abandonment. This aspect explains the rootless existence he led after leaving the army. It is also worth noting that the opposition falls on the US Neptune/Mars square so often associated with violence in American history.
According to journalists, McVeigh formed a warm bond to his father. Though this may conceivably be so, it is interesting to see that his Sun is placed on the exact Mars/Saturn midpoint, which could indicate severe discipline, and certainly shows the violence which later became a part of his life. In later years he never went out without his pistol tucked in to the back of his trousers. This midpoint sheds extra light on McVeigh's Moon in Pisces, which is in exact semisquare to the Sun, and therefore carries some of the murderous Mars/Saturn energy, as well as dragging the Sun into the Pluto opposition by sesquisquare. It becomes much easier to see how his fascination with America's military subcultures developed with the linkup of the Sun and Moon. He saw the American people and himself as victims of a conspiratorial government, whose avowed aim was to take away the right of its citizens to bear weapons, and which in the last analysis was part of a global conspiracy of power.
His avowed aim became one of striking against a government, which was the enemy of the people. He was profoundly affected by the outrageous killings of members of the Weaver family by federal agents on August 21, 1992 at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, at the time of a Mars/Venus square, and with the Sun exactly sesquiquadrate Uranus activating the US Moon at 27 Aquarius. This was a lamentable event. Weaver was another disillusioned right wing conspiracy theorist, who settled on a remote 20-acre mountain site to get away from the influence of the federal powers. As if to confirm his conspiracy theories, federal agents tried to enrol him to spy on a local militia, and when he refused, an agent entrapped him into selling him two shotguns, which was a criminal offence. When he refused to appear in court, agents surrounded his mountain home and with silenced automatic weapons shot his dog, and then his 12 year old son (in the back). When his wife appeared at the door holding her child, she was shot through the head. During the next few days there was a stand-off, in which assault vehicles and 400 agents surrounded Weaver and his remaining family, in a classic American scenario of using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Weaver was later found innocent of all charges.
McVeigh spent the years prior to the Oklahoma bombing travelling across America, and he made a pilgrimage to Ruby Ridge. He also visited Waco at the time of an even more disastrous siege, in which members of the Branch Davidians led by David Koresh perished when their compound went up in flames. This confirmed for him the evil of government federal forces. The siege lasted four months, whilst Mars went retrograde and then direct in Cancer opposing the Uranus/Neptune conjunction three times. Just after the third and final opposition, on April 19, 1993 in Waco, Texas, with the Sun in Aries squaring Mars, and the Moon, Venus and Mercury also in fiery Aries federal agents went in with tanks and tear gas at dawn. Trapped in the upper stories of the compound for four hours until fire broke out, 80 men, women and children died. It was in the Oklahoma City Federal building that these very same agents had their base.
Two years of planning went into the Oklahoma bombing, which took place as Uranus was at zero Aquarius. Pluto was at zero Sagittarius, now squaring McVeigh's MC/IC axis. Obviously these two planets had a point to make in their new abodes, concerned with explosive ideologies and their manifestation. The Uranus/Pluto conjunction of 1995 - 8, under which McVeigh was born, was now being manifested in the first sextile of the cycle, but not very harmoniously seen from a human viewpoint. In actual fact this was McVeigh's way of commemorating Waco, which also took place on April 19th, and just happens to be Hitler's birthday. The Sun at 29 Aries in the bombing chart is square to Uranus and quincunx Pluto. It's interesting to see how the Venus/Saturn conjunction repeats, this time in Pisces, with Saturn conjoining McVeigh's Moon, emphasising the sadness and tragedy of loss and bereavement. Curiously, the bomb chart is quite similar to McVeigh's, as far as the planetary alignments are concerned. This was his moment of fame.

Horoscope: The Oklahoma Bombing 19.04.1995 9.02 CDT Oklahoma City, OK 35N28 97W31 AS 8.24 GE
The Ascendant of the Oklahoma explosion at 8.24 Gemini is exactly on the USA's Uranus at 8.55 Gemini, shocking the American people into a new consciousness of the internal terrorist threat. Interestingly membership of right wing groups soared after the explosion, in the belief that the government itself was responsible, and was using it as an excuse for cracking down on the militias. When McVeigh's obvious guilt became apparent however, membership fell rapidly, and today right wing militias have lost a large proportion of their followers.
At the moment the Oklahoma State building was destroyed, Mars was almost exactly on the IC, trining an explosive retrograde Jupiter in Sagittarius, which activated the extremist Sun/Uranus square by semi- and sesquisquare. The Moon at 25 Sagittarius, and Neptune at 25 Capricorn, activated McVeigh's Uranus at 25 Virgo, Jupiter at 25 Leo, and Neptune at 25 Scorpio. These planets at 25 degrees were just waiting to be triggered by transits. It is the natal Neptune/Jupiter square which enabled McVeigh to entertain such wild fantasies about government conspiracies. There was no way he could get a reality check on his powerful fantasy life. He was simply attracted to very big lies. Dr. John Smith, McVeigh's psychiatrist, explained that McVeigh was committed to the ideal that he must object to a federal government that had become excessively oppressive and deceitful, and the bomb was his way of doing this. Smith termed the bombing as McVeigh's "antidepressant".
But it is the secondary progressions that tell the full story. At this time his IC progressed at 26 Virgo was just past the conjunction with his natal Uranus. Mars progressed was at 8.25 Gemini, on the USA's Uranus and the Oklahoma bombing's Ascendant, marking him as the assassin. His progressed Ascendant was at 18 Cancer, squaring the Venus/Node/Saturn conjunction. He exacted his revenge on the society he hated with his heart and soul. His progressed Mercury was at 21.49 Gemini, exactly on the USA's Mars... an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. This was indeed McVeigh's moment in the history of America, and with his progressed Moon having returned to its natal position, he entered the hated womb of his mother country, and detonated his bomb. His progressed Sun was at 29 Taurus, which will be where his progressed Moon will conjoin his progressed Venus on the date of his proposed execution in June 2001. On this degree lies the belt of stars known as the Weeping Sisters.
If McVeigh departs from this world in June, it will be the most witnessed execution since America's last public execution in 1935. Whilst his exit by lethal injection will be outwardly undramatic, its effect on world opinion will not. The bomb he detonated in 1995 with progressed Sun at 29 Taurus was a moment of anger and rage, but the progressed Venus/Moon conjunction at the same point on his execution shows softness and grief. The relatives will weep at closure, and the world will weep at the spiral of violence, perpetrated both by government, and by individuals.

<b>Tim's Astro Carto Graphy in Oklahoma City </b> Crossing Pluto/Moon's Nodes In this place, there is a special connection with larger communities. You experience the magical atmosphere of large events, mass meetings and group gatherings. Your influence on other people increases, you fight for respect and recognition but you have to subject yourself to the demands and dictates of others.
Those who like to lead place themselves in leadership roles within a movement and gain the support of their followers. Here, you are tempted to manipulate others, or be manipulated yourself. During difficult times in your life and under critical astrological aspects, you should definitely avoid such places, as the danger exists for an unhappy collective ending.
<b>Tim's Astro Carto Graphy in New York </b> Crossing Saturn/Pluto A stay at this place has a sobering influence, as you are inevitably confronted with considerable and almost insurmountable problems. Every attempt to withdraw from attending confrontations and problems leads to even more unpleasant consequences. You cannot escape fate; toil and trouble identify this region.
Massive obstacles block your desire for change and your patience is tested to its limit. It seems as though the whole world is against you.
However, if you are prepared to continue to undergo this pressure, you can achieve unusual and long-lasting results. Frustration and powerlessness turn into unshakable self-confidence, and clearly dealing with essentials expresses an efficient and economic lifestyle.
Crossing Moon/Chiron Contact with the Moon/Chiron conjunction activates your emotional plane in varying degrees. When dealing with other people, you appear extremely sensitive and transparent, but you completely ignore your own needs. You sense pain in others, become unsure of yourself and look for the solution of emotional problems. Significant psychoanalytical treatment can often be commenced here.
This process may bring up painful memories of the past. Images of your childhood re-emerge, earlier illnesses are re- experienced, and you may see the relationship to your mother in a new and not always pleasant light. However, dealing with these topics may finally liberate you from past hurts, and may form the basis of a better understanding about psychological pain.
You become more spiritual and connected to the psychological world. Transcendence becomes the complete experience of body, mind and soul. Your subconscious connects with higher spheres and becomes a source of healing and intuitive knowing.
Crossing Mars/Jupiter This is the place, which really improves your physical energy and will power. Your self-worth is on a natural high, and it would appear that luck and success follows every action or transaction. You are very adventurous, share your good mood and motivate others with your enthusiasm.
You are free to organise your time and activities. You overcome obstacles, and make major breakthroughs in lots of areas. New starts and overseas business contacts fare exceptionally well. Don't be small-minded, but think and act big. It is best to work alone because most people won't be able to keep up with your energy and enthusiasm.
With this level of optimism, it is, however, advisable to take stock, from time to time, of your progress. Otherwise, there is the danger of overstepping your mark. This really applies to relationships, because not everyone will love your sense of sexual adventure.
If he would stay in the Gulf or other area of the world the history would be different.
We can choose our destiny!

</B> On part one of the question. I feel that he has that Mutable Air Gemini rising which could lend to him being a little less attached & more cerebral than others. He has the Moon Quindecile Pluto (Obsessive emotions) and Moon Opposite. Uranus (erratic & sometimes explosive emotions). Also of note to you CEO Carter fans out there ... McVeigh has 3 of the 4 "homicidal degrees" either exact or closely conjunct. That's a statement right there.
On to part two of the question. He loved his mother terribly & her abandonment hurt him more than he could probably ever communicate. His love for his mother is evident in its 10th house elevated status in sentimental Pisces. Venus opposes his 5th house of love affairs, as does Saturn. Uranus & Pluto square his 7th house cusp of long-term affairs & marriage. Plus his South Node is conjunct the homicidal degree of Libra - wouldn't exactly be relationship material.

There's a lovely story about McVeigh and the asteroids in the <u>www.asteroids.com</u> site. Like asteroid Washingtonia conjunct his natal Mars, and asteroid Oklahoma conjunct his natal Neptune, and asteroids America and Hel approaching his natal MC. Please let other readers of your service know about this. Thank you.

</B> <a name="_Jay28May"></a> Many believe that the evidence in the case does not support the belief that McVeigh blew up the Murrah building in OK City. Demolition experts say that a crude fertilizer bomb could not have done the damage to the building that it is said to have done. There is too much detail and evidence contrary to the verdict to go into here, but I happen to believe that McVeigh is just a patsy. Does anyone believe this as well, and where would the chart indicate that McVeigh was set up?

I absolutely don't think hate is the point here: very much the contrary. Using Placidus houses Mars is in the 12th forming a T square to Jupiter and Neptune. This would make him highly idealistic and he would feel the unexpressed needs of the collective and feel compelled to act them out. Also his stellium in the 11th reinforces his idealistic feeling of belonging to a greater group (society?). Mars makes a tight trine to Pluto and the Moon a tight opposition to Pluto.
What is the significance of a single individual to Pluto if he can save/ improve the collective?
I think McVeigh is convinced he did a good action, trying to make society understand something we don't want to see. He chose a Plutonian way, he even sacrificed his own life for it. At least society is now looking at that matter, so somehow he did succeed after all. Hate is not the point: idealism maybe even a twisted form of love and the perception of a greater picture (Mars/Jupiter/Neptune). He knew his own life was at risk too, but sacrificed it.
With the other points I agree with what has been already written.

The provided chart doesn't note the aspects to the ascendant -
Jupiter sextile Asc. (appears to be jovial and nice)  Pluto conjunct Uranus and both square to Asc (can't stand the status quo and gets bored with it-feels the need to overthrow it).  Ruler Mercury in Taurus conjunct Sun in Taurus (gets a mind set on something and never lets go)  Venus conjunct Saturn in Aries (me me me, and never got enough affection from the father (10th house) to make him a warm individual.  Moon in Pisces oppose Pluto conjunct Uranus. Sensitive and wants to lash out.  Expresses it with that Pluto-Uranus conjunction (how "explosive" can it get?

</b> Timothy James McVeigh is well known as the Okalahoma Bomber. He bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Okalahoma City on the 19th April 1995 at 9:02 am CDT, 35N30 97W30 [was_link][1][/was_link]. He was found guilty of the attack, and sentenced to death by lethal injection. It is interesting to look at the chart of this man [was_link][2][/was_link].
Timothy McVeigh was born 23 April, 1968, at 8:19 am EST, Lockport NY USA, 43N10 78W42. He was born on the day of Mars in the hour of Venus. As the ruler of his ascendant Mercury is in Taurus and Venus and Mercury are in mutual reception, by Ruler/Term, Triplicity/Term and Term/Term, he would be able to present himself well. In an interview it was said of him he "had a twinkle in his eye and a smile". [was_link][3][/was_link] Mercury trine Jupiter and sextile the Ascendant would give him a charming way, and the Moon Pisces semisquare Sun Taurus would tend to give him an endearing dynamism and charm. He has Moon = Ascendant/MC and this would tend to cause him to be governed by instinct and the Sun = Moon/Pluto gives him an excitable, but sensitive nature. His Gemini Ascendant is apparent in his ranginess of body and his thin face.
His parents separated when he was 10, and this is natally indicated by Saturn = Moon/Mars. However at the time the Transiting Uranus/Neptune was stimulating this midpoint, which can bring on a lack of emotional balance, as well as pulling down a fog over oneself and denying the reality of events. Certainly, with Saturn = Mercury/Asc, he would have had great difficulty in trying to discuss this issue with his family. The transit of Uranus/Neptune was active from January of that year through to December, and on the 25th Dec of the year Transiting Saturn/Uranus also activating his radical Moon/Mars. This must certainly have been a sad time for him. Transiting Neptune was very active throughout the year between 16-18Sagittarius trining Saturn. North Node .Venus but very importantly, square Moon. He and his sister Patty, then aged 12, stayed with their father, but 4 year old Jennifer went with her mother, but came back to the father later. After this event, the mother of one of his friends said that he did not to appear affected by it. "He was always smiling, always polite". [was_link][4][/was_link] He never mentioned his mother, friends reported.
Timothy always wanted to have people around, and to this end he constructed a skateboard ramp in his driveway, had people shooting basketball in his hoop, constructed a haunted house in the basement, and held casino weekends. He was very entrepreneurial. Pluto = Jupiter/Saturn is a person who is not afraid to work to get his desired ends, and Pluto = Jupiter/North Node gives a desire for harmonious and pleasant contacts with people. This is reinforced by his strong 11th house of friends and rewards from efforts, with go-getter Mars as its ruler. However, Mars is intemperate, and the ruler of his most tenanted house, and conjunct the 12th cusp of self-undoing. (It is also in applying square to Jupiter and this can also overdo things.
McVeigh is very intelligent, however at school he was not a high achiever. He did however win a state scholarship for high scores on standardised tests, which caused a good deal of surprise to his teachers. Jupiter, of education and learning, is in the 3rd of restlessness and thought processes. Jupiter square Neptune would indicate drifting into woolly-headedness, and this is reinforced by Neptune = Moon/Mercury, which gives an active imagination and wrong thinking. He admitted to school friends that he was a "survivalist", one of those from the far right of American politics who sees a totalitarian takeover of some kind happening in the US, and who is very strongly supportive of the gun lobby - and indeed often stockpile weapons and food for "when the crunch comes". Uranus = Pluto/A is a midpoint in his chart which could indicate this. This point actively gives a person a constant state of anxiety, and can also indicate frequent change of environment. However, his intelligence was later activated, as we shall soon see. He left school in 1986.
Timothy was in and out of work for some time (Saturn semisquare MC - gives difficulties in the career and occupation). He had said that there were no jobs around unless you wanted "to work for $6.00 or less or at McDonalds or Wendy's". He took some computer courses at a business college, but dropped out because he found them boring. Later no teacher could even remember him (Saturn conjunct North Node-giving a sense of isolation; and also Venus = Sun/Saturn would give him a sense of reserve as well).

In January 1988, he and a friend, David Darlak, bought 10 acres of thickly wooded land for what they claimed was an investment and for hunting. The Moon progressed was square his MC, and Transiting Saturn and Uranus were opposed to his ascendant. Transiting Saturn also trined his Jupiter radical and Transiting Saturn was square his Uranus radical. A year later, when he was in the army, he claimed the land was to be a survivalist bunker. There was a great deal of activity this month from the Transiting Saturn/Uranus (irritability and tension), Saturn/Neptune (suffering renunciation and asceticism), Saturn/Pluto (hard labour and cruelty), Uranus/Neptune (the elimination of waking consciousness) and Neptune/Pluto (the Supernatural, strange ideas). [was_link][5][/was_link] Throughout the month, Transiting Saturn makes eight powerful contacts with midpoints in the chart and Uranus and Neptune make three each. In May of that year, it was reported that McVeigh and two friends spent five hours there one day, shooting and letting off explosives that "rocked the entire valley for hours".
His decision to enter the army happened very quickly. A friend of his father's suggested it, and within the week he was in. This happened in May of 1988. McVeigh's room mate in training camp in Fort Benning in Georgia recalled having "met an extremely thin, underconfident 20 year old". Transiting Pluto semisquare Uranus radical is the power of transformation. and this occurred in this month. Transiting Pluto contacted his North Node/M, and this brought powerful associations into his life. Transiting Saturn was trine his radical Mercury, the ruler of his Ascendant and 4th, and finally he found a structure which was easy for him to see as a home. In a sense he had come home. On the 17 May, Mars progressed perfected a square to the MC. At last his hopes and wishes are beginning to be fulfilled - or are they? (Mars ruler of 11th - but square).
He became friendly with a man by the name of Terry Nichols, who is 13 years his senior (Saturn = North Node associations with older people), and who has been charged as a co-conspirator in the Okalahoma bombing. They both had the ethos of "survivalism" in common, and were "hard into guns". This association lasted until they were arrested.
When he was moved to Fort Riley in Kansas after training camp, McVeigh's intelligence was illuminated. His entrance tests showed exceptional intelligence, especially in Maths, science, electronics and high tech. (Mundane directed Venus opposition Uranus radical). He was considered a rising star, and was the first in company to make sergeant. He had numerous money making schemes, and was always flush with cash (Cancer on the 2nd - acquisitiveness; and Moon in the 10th, opposition Uranus Pluto in the 4th, ruthless money making schemes). He would lend an army buddy $75.00, and receive $100 back on payday. He spurned girls and drink, and ran a taxi service for his army friends as well. He was more interested in his survivalist magazines. MC = Venus/Saturn gives emotional inhibitions and somewhat inhibited desires. It also indicates a person who likes solitude and who would be quite shy in matters of love. It is recorded that when some army friends were encouraging him to go out with a girl his sister was trying to fix him up with, all he could do was stand there and blush. However, the MC = Venus/North Node gives him deep feelings of love, but they are not easily expressed. Likewise, the North Node = Venus/Saturn gives a certain ability to be standoffish in love matters.
Unfortunately, the army was not as secure as it had been in the past. By the end of 1989 the military was being reduced, because the Berlin Wall had fallen and communism along with it. This lead McVeigh to the Green Berets, a specialist unit which funding cuts had not effected.
He had a passion to join the Green Berets, and gave himself a punishing schedule of training to pass the physical. (400 push-ups a day, 50 at a time with 30 minute rests, marching around the post after normal training with an 80 pound weight rucksack and so on.) Pluto = Jupiter/Saturn indicates that he was an individual who was not afraid of any trouble to work towards his goals. He was willing to put immense effort into attaining his desires. However, he did have one failing in the army and that was race. He had been accused of continually giving blacks jobs that were considered lowly. This is seen in the MC = Moon/Mars, which Ebertin calls the "demonstration of intolerance."
However, by November of 1990, when he was due to tryout for the Green Berets, Saddam Hussein had invaded Kuwait and McVeigh was training for war.

At this time, Mundane Primary Directed Uranus was trining Mars radical. Transiting Saturn was trine Pluto radical and transiting Pluto was trine Moon radical. At last he was to be in combat, but it was not what he was looking for. He did not see as much as he would have liked. He was awarded many medals, including the Bronze Star and the "coveted Combat Infantry Badge". He was recalled home soon after the cease-fire and tried out for the Green Berets. As he was unable to keep his conditioning while overseas, he failed the physical. He told a friend "If I can't make the Green Berets I won't rise quickly enough to make the Army worth the effort." This was not the opinion of the army evaluators. He was discharged from the army on the 31 December 1991.
At this time. Mercury progressed was square Moon radical. This seems to indicate that his career was at an end, and that his hopes and ambitions for a career were at a standstill. Transiting Neptune was moving into square Saturn radical, an aspect of demoralisation. Likewise, was Transiting Neptune about to square his North Node and Venus. Here much disillusionment is promised. Transiting Saturn had been square Sun through the end of November until middle December, and this would have been a quite depressing time for him, not helped at all by Transiting Pluto = Uranus/North Node radical. Disappointments were there with Transiting Neptune = Sun/A, as well as a burning anger which could easily be manifested.
He spent his first year out of the army back at home working as a security guard, and it is believed his anti-government sentiments began to slowly evolve at this time. he worked as a security guard and was promoted in May of 1992. At this point there were quite a number of excellent sextiles occurring in his chart with Transiting Saturn, but things were not all rosy. He had argued with his father about some letters to the newspaper he had written, indicating that America was in decline and that a violent solution may have to be the answer. McVeigh's father disapproved of the letters and told him so. A friend of the father suggests that this was the reason that McVeigh left home. "He wanted to be somewhere where he could talk about what he believed". [was_link][6][/was_link] Notice again in the radix that Saturn = Mercury/Asc - the inability to discuss ideas within the family.
In the middle of 1992 McVeigh linked up with Terry and James Nichols. This was in an area of growing para-military and anti-government organisations. He worked the gun show circuit and conducted a gun business, much of it by mail. He left the National Rifle Association as he believed that their stance on assault weapons was too soft. This was in 1994.
He was greatly effected by the shootout between federal agents and another survivalist, Randy Weaver in August 1992. Weaver's wife and child were killed. At this time Transiting Saturn was sesquiquadrate his Ascendant, and Transiting Pluto trine Pluto radical. He was also on the tail end of Transiting Neptune square Saturn radical. Directed Mercury was opposition Pluto at this time, and this indicates a feeling of an assault on the home base. (Mercury ruler of 4th, and dispositor of Pluto 4th.) Transiting Pluto opposition Mars at this time was also triggering of the Mars = Moon/Venus, = Moon/Saturn, = Saturn/Pluto and = Mercury. Combined together, this stimulation would have brought him to a realisation that his ideals were correct, and that he would have to undergo suffering for him to actually manifest his ideals in a clear and forthright way, including the possibility of public violence.
The Waco inferno on 19 April, 1993 also had a profound effect on him. In April 93, Pluto was transiting his Jupiter = Neptune. Ebertin suggests this contact natally gives "Apparent happiness; a conflict between the ideal visualised and the very different reality". [was_link][7][/was_link] With Pluto = Jupiter/Neptune the formation of unreasonable plans is manifested. So is great loss. [was_link][8][/was_link] At the time of the Waco siege, his mundane directed Mars was conjunct Saturn, perhaps forcing an activity that was fated, as Saturn is in the degree of the nodes. On this day, Transiting Pluto left the Sun/Moon radical, I believe, his mind was made up. I quote the full passage from the Combination of Stellar Influences:
Pluto = Sun/Moon A soul torn by inner conflict, biased attitude to changed circumstances lead to critical phases of development in life or to separation from others. [was_link][9][/was_link] <p.At this point he was totally radicalised.
