Discussion about
Pete Rose, born 14 April 1941 at 05:45 AM in Cincinnati OH

This discussion is imported from the  comment board on the  previous astrodatabank.com website.

Where in Pete Rose's chart do we find the outpouring of public support? Where is his gambling addiction? Does anyone want to go on record with a prediction of when he might get inducted into the Hall of Fame?

The grand fire trine between Mercury in the 12th, the Moon in the 8th and Pluto in the 4th, for starters. There's something about Rose that speaks to the public unconscious and wins them over. His Moon trine Chiron/Pluto conjunct Chiron would add to that.
Also, his Jupiter is conjunct Uranus, which rules his 11th house, is trine Neptune in the 6th.

Pete Rose has a Sun/Venus conjunction in the first house which probably accounts for his popularity. The non-astrological reason, of course, which probably carries more weight, is the fact that he was an outstanding athlete who deserves to be in the Hall of Fame whether or not he gambled on the side. As far as I can recall, he was never accused of allowing his gambling to affect his play, so he never disgraced the game by doing it. If he had thrown games in order to benefit financially, that would be another story. But most people don't think he did anything so bad that he should be treated this way. There is a sense of fairness in the American psyche which would account for their rallying in his behalf.
His gambling addiction could be explained by the Moon in Sagittarius in the 8th house and the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus in his 2nd house. His Sun/Venus conjunction in Aries in the 1st house, may also play a part. It would make him enjoy taking chances.
If I were to make a prediction about his induction into the Hall of Fame it would be when Jupiter and Saturn return to their natal positions in Taurus. He should get something he deserves at that time.

Sun, Venus conjunct the asc and the grand trine featuring the Moon all point to Rose's popularity with fans. However, I don't see him being inducted into the Hall of Fame. The same brashness on the field (Jup con Ur opp Mo) led Rose to think he could break the rules. His current second Saturn return only underscores the work he needs to do on himself. Saturn in Taurus represents lessons about values and hopefully, finding peace of mind.

Well, his gambling addiction is related to Pluto opp Mars. I had a client once who was a lawyer. He had a Mars/Pluto conjunction in the 5th and got disbarred for his gambling addiction. Of course 5th house ruler Sun in Aries qunincunx Jupiter doesn't help.

There have been three or four of us posting comments using the Sidereal zodiac, and I wish this site would have Sidereal charts along with the Tropical. It's hard to visualize planets in signs when there's no chart to look at. The meanings of the Sidereal signs aren't the same as the Tropical, however. Anyhow, on to Pete Rose.
I agree with the posts so far that have pointed out that the Sun and Venus in the first house show Rose's popularity. But the picture is stronger in the Sidereal zodiac. There are two exalted planets in the first: Venus in Pisces and the Sun in Aries. These two planets are extremely strong because they are in these same signs in the navamsa chart. So we know that the owner of this chart will be a "star" in some way. What kind of star? Venus is the lord of the 3rd house .. Gemini's house. Gemini rules the hands and arms. Venus is conjunct the Sun, Saturn and Jupiter in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars. Mars itself is exalted in Capricorn. Venus is also the dispositor of navamsa Mars, which falls in the natal 3rd house. This is a strong athletic picture, focusing on the 1st and 3rd houses.
Rose has been described as selfish and self-absorbed, though his athletic skill made him popular with the masses. A strong Sun in the 1st house can be self-centered, and Saturn with the Sun will narrow personal perspective.
Will Rose finally be allowed into the Hall of Fame? Saturn with the Sun delays this honor, but when Rose enters his Sun/Jupiter planetary period, the possibility is there. This period runs from June 2000 to April 2001. Jupiter and the Sun are both strong in Aries in the natal chart, but Saturn sits between them .. delay.
Rose's navamsa (9th harmonic) chart is powerful. This chart is more exact than the natal chart because it's much more individual. This chart changes approximately every 12 minutes. Capricorn rises and its lord Saturn is exalted in Libra in the 10th house with Mercury, lord of the 9th house of honor. Dispositor Venus in the 3rd (3rd emphasis again), is also exalted. Exalted Sun aspects exalted Saturn and Mercury from the 4th. Rose will leave a brilliant lasting legacy which should eventually mean the Hall of Fame.

Basically, looking at his chart and seeing so much fire there is little surprise Rose is so aggressive and selfish. It is hard to find a chart with Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Ascendant all in fire signs.
Such an energetic person is to be expected with so many planets in Aries and Sagittarius, making him seemingly unable to take any care of himself or anybody.
